DAYS 92-94 The Seychelles
DAY 92 Sunday, April 16. At sea
DAY 93 Monday, April 17. Mahé, Seychelles
Mahé is the quintessential Seychelles island, I think. Picture perfect, with lovely soft sand beaches and water even I happily luxuriated in for hours.
The island itself reminds me a bit of St. Bartholemy, in the Caribbean: steep hills, twisty roads. But the vegetation here is lush. We hired a cab to take us to one of the most popular beaches and enjoyed a real change of pace: being lazy in the warm, sunny climate, and not-too-warm water. One of our party is an avid long-distance swimmer. He tied on his orange marker and swam in the calm water for about a mile.
DAY 94 Tuesday, April 18. La Digue, Seychelles
The island of La Digue is smaller. We’re told you could walk around it in an hour. It’s much less developed, and the beaches we found were shallow for a ways out, like Mahé’s, but much rockier. Without our water shoes, we couldn’t wade out. The surface was coral, not sand.
Very picturesque, though.
